The Shadow Radiator Cooling Fan Controller is designed for 12V vehicles and can directly drive OEM or aftermarket cooling fans, activating cooling earlier to keep the engine within its optimal operating temperature range.

The package includes a Shadow temperature sensor that can be installed on the engine hose or the controller itself for real-time monitoring. The controller features a digital LED display that clearly shows water temperature, oil temperature, and voltage. Users can freely set the fan activation temperature, while the smart fan-stop logic and warning functions ensure stable engine operation, prevent heat damage, and effectively reduce the risk of overheating.

Stable Engine Performance Starts with Better Cooling

In most vehicles, the ECU sets the radiator fan activation temperature at around 95°C for thermal efficiency. However, under heavy load or extreme driving conditions, this activation point can be too late, increasing the risk of engine overheating and premature component failure.

The Radiator Cooling Fan Controller provides an adjustable activation range from 70°C to 100°C. Users can fine-tune the settings according to different engine requirements, allowing the fan to engage earlier and effectively reduce the risk of overheating.

Shadow NTC Temperature Sensor

Equipped with a high-precision temperature sensor with a ±1% margin of error, it responds about 15% faster than conventional products, enabling real-time monitoring of coolant temperature changes. It can also track oil temperature and voltage, providing a more complete overview of engine conditions.

-Auto fan-stop function: when the temperature drops 5°C below the set value, the fan automatically stops running
-Built-in memory function: retains settings even after power is disconnected, eliminating the need for reconfiguration

Installation & Wiring

⚠ This product is only compatible with DC fans and does not support PWM-controlled fans.
Equipped with a 12V / 30A relay output, it allows flexible installation methods depending on vehicle requirements.

1. Parallel with OEM Fan Relay

Method: Connect the controller’s relay output in parallel with the OEM radiator fan relay control wire.
Effect: Retains the ECU’s original control logic while allowing the Shadow controller to activate the fan earlier through the OEM relay.
-Advantage: Combines factory protection with the benefit of earlier cooling engagement.

2. Parallel with Radiator Fan

-Method: Connect the controller’s relay output directly in parallel with the radiator fan’s positive (or negative) wire.
-Effect: The controller can independently drive the fan without ECU limitations.
-Application: Suitable when the OEM wiring is damaged or bypassed, allowing the controller to directly operate the fan.

3. Auxiliary Fan Installation

-Method: Install an additional DC high-power fan on the radiator or oil cooler, and connect the relay output to the power supply circuit.
-Effect: The auxiliary fan automatically activates under high temperatures or aggressive driving, further enhancing cooling efficiency.
-Application: Commonly used in modified setups with automatic transmission oil coolers or engine oil coolers.

Installation Precautions

Fuse Protection: It is recommended to connect a ≤30A fuse in the relay output circuit to reduce the risk of short circuits.
Wiring Setup: Do not connect the controller’s signal output directly to the fan. For high-current loads, always drive the fan through the relay.
Grounding Point: The controller, fan, and relay must share a common ground to prevent voltage drift and ensure accurate operation.
Terminal Treatment: Use proper terminals and heat-shrink tubing to avoid poor connections.
