X-FLAP OEM Exhaust Valve Controller QA
Q1: What is the default mode? Can it be changed?
The default behavior is to restore the last state before power-off. If you prefer the unit to always start in ON, OFF, or NOR, this can be configured under the Default setting in the app.
Q2: My car originally had one factory exhaust valve, but after installing an aftermarket exhaust I now have two. Can X-FLAP control both?
Yes, but a 1-to-2 valve signal splitter harness is required as an additional purchase. Some vehicles come with only a single factory valve signal wire. After adding a second valve via an aftermarket exhaust system, X-FLAP can only control the original signal line by default. With the splitter harness installed, the control signal is distributed to both valves simultaneously — ON, OFF, and NOR modes all operate in sync.
Q3: My car has one valve on each side. Do I need two X-FLAP units?
No.
Factory dual-valve setup: order the dual-valve part number directly.
Factory single-valve converted to dual: order the single-valve part number and add the 1-to-2 splitter harness.
(For detailed wiring instructions and configuration, please refer to the digital manual.)
Q4: Other family members drive the car too. How do I make sure it doesn't start loud every time?
Set the startup default to OFF or NOR in the app. The mode can be switched as needed after the engine starts, without affecting everyday use.

Q5:How quickly does the valve respond when switching modes? Is there any noticeable delay?
Valve response is nearly immediate after the switch command is sent. Under normal driving conditions, there is no perceptible delay.
Q6:What is the effective range of the remote? Can it be used from inside the car?
The remote uses a high-penetration signal design and works without issue from inside the vehicle. Outdoor range varies by environment, but is sufficient for typical use in parking lots or roadside situations.
Q7: Does the app need to stay connected at all times? What happens to the valve if the connection drops?
No continuous connection is required. Once a switch command is sent, the valve holds that state. A dropped connection does not affect the current setting.
Q8: Does the app need to stay connected at all times? What happens to the valve if the connection drops?
X-FLAP uses a priority control logic — in ON or OFF mode, it overrides factory commands. Switching to NOR mode returns full control to the factory ECU. The two systems do not interfere with each other.
Q9: Is the controller secure when mounted on the chassis?
Installation follows a no-interference principle with the factory harness. Mounting at a chassis high-point is recommended to avoid water accumulation and impact during driving. The PBT GF30 housing with full-body encapsulation provides adequate weather and impact resistance.
Q10: Is it safe to use OFF mode during a cold start in winter?
OFF mode keeps the valve fully closed, which is fine during cold starts at low RPM. For high-RPM or high-load driving, switching to ON or NOR is recommended — prolonged full-close under heavy load is best avoided.
Q11: Is it safe to use OFF mode during a cold start in winter?
OFF mode keeps the valve fully closed, which is fine during cold starts at low RPM. For high-RPM or high-load driving, switching to ON or NOR is recommended — prolonged full-close under heavy load is best avoided.
Q12: Will any warning lights appear after installation?
No. The built-in Decode Module ensures the ECU continues to receive normal signals. DTC fault codes are not triggered, and the vehicle's existing systems are not affected.
Q13: Will installing this product affect my factory warranty?
X-FLAP is plug-and-play and does not modify the factory harness — it can be removed at any time with no trace left behind. As no destructive work is involved, it generally does not constitute grounds for warranty invalidation. If in doubt, the unit can be removed before taking the vehicle in for factory service.
Q14: Are there any side effects after installation? Will it drain the battery?
No side effects. X-FLAP draws power through the OEM connector — when the ECU enters sleep mode, the controller powers down simultaneously. There is no standby power consumption.
Q15: Is this suitable for self-installation, or should I have it done by a shop?
The wiring is straightforward, and owners with basic electrical knowledge can install it themselves. If you are unsure about the wiring layout or mounting location for your specific vehicle, having it installed by a shop familiar with aftermarket electrical work is recommended. The included digital manual provides full guidance.

X-FLAP OEM Exhaust Valve Controller
Many European performance vehicles come factory-fitted with electronic exhaust valves — but valve behavior is controlled by the driving mode, not the driver. Even on vehicles equipped with a stock performance exhaust system, regulatory constraints often prevent the valve from opening fully, limiting both sound output and exhaust efficiency. The X-FLAP OEM Exhaust Valve Controller leaves the factory system untouched and puts valve control back in your hands. Switch states directly via the included remote or mobile app, independent of the active driving mode. OEM-spec connectors throughout — no wire cutting required, removable at any time. The built-in Decode Module ensures that taking control of the valve does not interfere with the vehicle's existing systems.
